Safe Refuge When Home Isn’t Safe

AWARE operates Mercer County’s only secure emergency shelter—a confidential, protected location where survivors and their children (and pets) can escape immediate danger. The shelter is free, accessible anytime by calling our hotline, and provides everything you need:

  • Pet-friendly accommodations, so no one is left behind

Medical Advocacy

You Don’t Have to Face the Hospital Alone

If you are injured or have been sexually assaulted, AWARE can dispatch a trained advocate to meet you at the hospital or provide support by phone. Advocates help you understand medical procedures, communicate with staff, and make informed choices—all while ensuring you are never alone during a traumatic time.
