Mark F. Benedetto is a retired Chief Juvenile Probation Officer and Community Corrections Administrator for Mercer County, Pennsylvania, with nearly four decades of leadership in juvenile justice and adult community corrections through the Intermediate Punishment Program. He has extensive experience in juvenile and criminal justice program development, strategic planning, and grant administration, having authored and managed numerous state and federally funded initiatives through agencies including the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, the Juvenile Court Judges’ Commission, and the U.S. Department of Justice. These initiatives supported victim services, community safety, juvenile and criminal justice reform, prevention programming, and cross-system collaboration among courts, law enforcement, schools, human service providers, and grassroots organizations.
Throughout his career, Mr. Benedetto served in leadership roles on numerous statewide and local criminal justice policy and advisory committees, including the Pennsylvania Council of Chief Juvenile Probation Officers and the Juvenile Court Judges’ Commission Leadership Team. He also chaired Mercer County’s Criminal Justice Advisory Board and the Services Training Officers Prosecutors (STOP) Committee. His work focused on crime reduction, strengthening cross-system coordination, restorative justice, and evidence-based prevention programs such as Communities That Care, while improving responses to victims and families impacted by crime.
Mr. Benedetto currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor at Pennsylvania State University’s Shenango Campus and as a Certified Pennsylvania DUI Instructor for Mercer County’s Alcohol Highway Safety School. He holds a Master of Science in Administration of Criminal Justice from Mercyhurst University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Thiel College. His professional contributions have been recognized with several honors, including the Juvenile Court Judges’ Commission Chief Juvenile Probation Officer of the Year Award and the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s Linda K. M. Ludgate CJAB Excellence in Leadership Award.
