Leah Sizer
Board President
Leah Sizer is the Civic & Student Life Coordinator at Penn State Shenango in Sharon, Pennsylvania, where she provides personalized student support services and helps students build meaningful connections within the local community and beyond. She also serves as the chair of the Nittany Nook Committee, which focuses on mitigating food insecurity for students, and is the Commonwealth Campus Resource Person at Shenango for Penn State’s Office of Sexual Misconduct Reporting & Response.
Prior to beginning her work in Student Affairs in 2022, Leah spent more than a decade working in human services in both direct service and administrative leadership roles. During this time, she developed a strong commitment to supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and the employees who serve them—an advocacy that continues to shape both her professional and personal life. Her areas of expertise include nonprofit leadership, community engagement, networking, budget management, fundraising, and advocacy.
Leah first became involved with Aware as an Advisory Board member for the Shirley Bursey House, where she supported fundraising efforts at the well-known Mac & Cheese Cookoff. Through this experience, she developed a deep appreciation for the vital services Aware provides to the region, particularly its mission of supporting individuals impacted by abuse and educating the community on how to advocate for survivors. Leah hopes to strengthen Aware’s presence within the community and help establish the organization as a trusted partner and resource. She envisions a community where people are educated to be empathetic allies and where every person in need knows Aware is a safe place to turn.
