Business Agent


James Kirsch serves as a Business Agent for Steamfitters Local 449, where he plays a key role in supporting the union’s contractors and workforce. In his position, he assists with fulfilling manpower needs for signatory contractors, promotes the organization’s training and apprenticeship programs to prospective candidates, and helps maintain strong relationships with industry partners and customers. He is also responsible for protecting work jurisdiction, supporting workforce development, and participating in political and legislative advocacy that impacts the trade.


In addition to his professional responsibilities, James brings valuable nonprofit leadership experience through his past service as a Board Member for Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR). His work with the organization gave him a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by survivors of sexual and domestic violence and highlighted the importance of community advocacy and support services. Combining his labor leadership background with nonprofit experience, James contributes skills in volunteering, fundraising, event planning, and legislative advocacy. His unique perspective helps strengthen organizations that are working to support and empower individuals in need.
