When You #GiveAware You Give For Survivors
#GiveAWARE #DONATE
When you give to AWARE, you are helping families throughout Mercer County who are trapped in the trauma of violence Domestic and sexual violence, Elder abuse, Financial abuse, Psychological and emotional abuse, Animal abuse Spiritual abuse, and more.
The need has been increasing since the pandemic ended!
AWARE remains the only dedicated victim services agency serving victims of all ages, throughout the life arc serving Mercer County. Our advocates’ sole allegiance is to the victim. Victims are experiencing more complicated, multiple traumatic events. At the same time as demand is increasing, the funding supporting AWARE services is stagnating, ravaged by inflation and rising costs.
AWARE does not regularly ask you for help. Today, please help AWARE to continue the 24/7 services needed. The range of the delivery of our immediate services helps the healing to heal. The other focus is the larger community work to challenge norms that allow these crimes to continue as AWARE partners with all to end all forms of domestic and sexual violence throughout Mercer County.
These are some of the services provided to our community during these difficult times:
- Emergency shelter for (77) families
- (22) families were helped through the permanent housing programs (rapid re-housing) and another (22) families were helped (through the homeless prevention programs)
- The Mercer Elder Victim Advocacy program remains the only dedicated elder victim program operating in Pennsylvania serving people 60+ years and older.
- (92) Child victims of sexual violence were served. (In the 1st quarter of this year (41) children were served!)
- 650 domestic violence victims were helped, an astounding +24% increase.
This work also includes the prevention series conducted in local schools, single-topic school and community education, professional training seminars, and community outreach. These activities reflect the other part of our community compact to partner with all to end domestic and sexual violence throughout Mercer County.
Regardless of age, each person experiences violence uniquely. There is no other agenda or need that is more urgent than meeting that victim where they are. 24/7 365 days/year.
